Visit Baga Gazriin Chuluu, a beautiful area known for its granite rock formations rising from the vast steppe. Explore the scenic landscape and enjoy short hikes among the rocks. Overnight in a ger camp.
The tour continues as you travel further south to Tsagaan Suvraga (White Stupa), located in Ulziit Soum, Dund-Gobi province. The name was given by the local people to the impressive and legendary cliff, sculpted by nature. With 10 million years of history, the cliff reveals different eras through its colorful layers.
That day, depart for Gurvan Saikhan National Park. Gazelles, gerbils, and even snow leopards can be found there. After visiting the small museum in Yoliin Am ("Valley of the Vultures" in Mongolian), you can enjoy a beautiful walk through the valley, which ends at a chasm. Spend the day exploring the Yol Valley, taking advantage of superb photographic opportunities.
Continue your journey towards the Khongor sand dune, also known as the "Singing Dune." In the afternoon, visit a local camel herding family and explore the sand dunes on camelback, ascending to the highest point. The reward is an incredibly beautiful view of the entire desert. Enjoy the Gobi sunset back at the camp.
Heading towards Bayanzag, also known as Flaming Cliffs (Flaming Rocks), the famous flaming cliffs are rich in Gobi saxaul trees. This is the region in the Gobi Desert where dinosaur fossils were found. The American paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrews gave his name to this area after visiting it and finding dinosaur eggs in 1920.
Leaving the Gobi Desert after breakfast, you will continue your journey towards the ruins of Ongi Monastery, where, just a century ago, more than a thousand lamas resided. Founded in 1660, it was one of the largest monasteries in Mongolia and fell victim to the anti-religious purges carried out under the leader of the Mongolian Communist Party.
On the way to Orkhon Waterfall (also called Ulaan Tsutgalan Waterfall), one of central Mongolia’s most beautiful natural sites formed thousands of years ago. Located in the Orkhon Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage area, the waterfall drops about 22 meters into a scenic gorge.
Departure towards Mount Shireet, where the Tuvkhun Monastery is located in a more remote area, far from civilization and cities. Upon arrival at the parking area, you can begin the hike through the coniferous forest to reach the monastery, situated at an altitude of 2,300 meters. It was also here that he developed the 'SOYOMBO' script, which later became a national symbol of Mongolia and has appeared on the national flag since 1921.
Early in the morning, you will depart and begin your visit to Kharkhorin, the former capital of the Mongol Empire during the reign of Genghis Khan (1162-1227). The modern city of Kharkhorin is primarily known for the most famous monastery in Mongolia: Erdene Zuu. The complex dates back to 1586 and once comprised over one hundred temples.
Continuing past the city, you'll travel by car to the Khogno Khan Nature Reserve. The Khogno Khan mountains, considered sacred since the time of the Turks, boast stunning, massive rock formations. The Khogno Khan Nature Reserve covers 46,990 hectares. It's a magnificent place with mountains, forests, steppes, a Gobi-like desert, and mineral springs all within the same area.
Upon arrival at the nature reserve, you can visit the Khustai national park's information center and learn more about the region's history. In the afternoon, you can observe the wild horses descending from the mountains. After breakfast, return to Ulaanbaatar and check in at your hotel. Enjoy free time for shopping at the State Department Store. In the evening, attend a traditional Mongolian cultural show featuring folk music, Morin Khuur, throat singing, and contortion.
